Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
