Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.

A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by three suspects, with one opened fire on him before escaping on foot.

The reason behind the attack has not been established and no one has been arrested are in custody, according to authorities.

The Fatal Incident

Police revealed that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a building close to the Carlton Centre.

He had devoted time at the property supervising the setup of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, it was reported.

"It is alleged the man was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities confirmed.

Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what appeared to be a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the attack.

Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were found at the scene.

Appeal for Witnesses

Officials are asking members of the public who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.

"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the shooting, and police have been attempting to locate them to establish their whereabouts," added an official.

A Nation in Mourning

His sister, a close relative, said the loved ones are reeling to process his death.

"I am devastated. I don't have words," were her words.
"We know he was a voice for many people. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were prepared to tackle. This is a devastating blow."

She requested the public to not sharing disturbing footage from the incident, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, especially for Stock's children.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that aired on a South African TV network.

Beyond his media career, Stock was involved in various commercial activities, including security provision, supplying high-level security services and managing safety for prestigious gatherings across South Africa.

He was also reportedly involved in building administration and was involved in building evictions.

His murder has shocked the country and prompted an flood of condolences from his followers, the government and political parties.

A cabinet official commented he was furious and grief-stricken by Stock's killing.

"He was forthright boldly and honestly. He even challenged me and my decisions as a public official. He was a true embodiment of who we ought to be," was his tribute.

A party figurehead said the "shocking killing of DJ Warras in the middle of the day is a shock for all South Africans".

A broadcasting director said that "Stock was more than just a face of a reality series. He was a skilled narrator, a passionate music lover and a kind-hearted individual who brought excitement and dynamism to every moment on screen. His dedication to creativity left an profound impact."

In a communication, the broadcaster he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his magnetism, approachability and sharp wit, adding that his memory "will endure".
