Ukrainian President Calls On Trump to Facilitate Ceasefire in the Conflict
Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on President Trump to facilitate a truce in the Ukrainian conflict in a call on Saturday.
"Provided that a hostilities can be halted in a single area, then certainly additional conflicts can be ended as well, including the Russian war," the President stated, commending Trump's "remarkable" Middle East truce proposal and requesting the American leader to compel the Russian government into negotiations.

Moscow's assaults on Ukrainian territory killed at least 5 individuals on the weekend and disrupted electricity to parts of the south Odesa oblast, according to local sources.
Two people died inside a religious building in the town when it was struck, as reported by municipal sources.
In Russia's border region of the Belgorod region, a lorry operator was fatally wounded by a Ukrainian strike, as stated by municipal sources.
Energy Recovery Work in Kyiv
Operations continued on Saturday to recover electricity in the Ukrainian capital, after Russian attacks.
Electricity had been restored to in excess of 800,000 residents by the weekend and the biggest private energy company said the main efforts to repair the grid was complete though certain disruptions remained.
Air Defence Operations and UAV Downings
The Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems downed or disrupted fifty-four of 78 total UAVs from Russia sent towards the country overnight, the military reported on Saturday.
The Russian defence ministry said it shot down forty-two UAVs from Ukraine over Russian territory.
Cuban Government Refutes Allegations of Sending Soldiers to Ukraine
The Cuban government on Saturday denied US claims it has sent soldiers to fight in the conflict in Ukraine, while stating the government "lack accurate information about individuals" engaged "voluntarily" or "in the military forces of either party".
The government department in Havana stated 26 Cubans had been convicted to jail sentences ranging from five up to fourteen years for mercenary involvement since September 2023 when information emerged of individuals being deployed to the battlefield in Ukraine.
I Want to Live Initiative Reports Information on Cuban Involvement
I Want to Live, a Ukrainian government initiative that urges adversaries to give up, reported in May: "Our information indicates the names and personal details of over a thousand Cubans who signed contracts with the Russian military in 2023-2024."
The Cuban foreign ministry commented of those who might be engaged: "Undeniably that none of them have the encouragement, commitment, or consent of the Cuban authorities for their involvement."
Relatives of Cubans who traveled to Russia in the year told news outlets at the time that their family members had been deceptively recruited through advertisements on digital networks.
